CHAMPS Group Purchasing Announces Velvet Ice Cream to Replace Dairymens’ Ice Cream Contract

CHAMPS Group Purchasing announced today it will replace the ice cream portion of the Dairymens’ contract with Velvet Ice Cream, an Ohio-based vendor.

This new agreement with Velvet Ice Cream will allow existing CHAMPS Group Purchasing members to receive uninterrupted service and delivery with the same terms and conditions beginning Friday, Jan. 28, 2011. Dairymens’ decision to leave the ice cream market will have no impact on the Dairymen’s milk contract.

Jan Elder, CHAMPS Contracting Director, stated, "CHAMPS is pleased to have signed this new agreement with Velvet Ice Cream. This contract will allow CHAMPS to expand their contract offering to a greater portion of our membership, including the entire state of Ohio and surrounding parts of Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. We have recently seen a desire from our membership to work with local companies, and this new Ohio-based contract with Velvet Ice Cream offers a perfect partnership opportunity.”

CHAMPS Group Purchasing staff negotiates and offers custom contracts, like Velvet Ice Cream, to its 4,000 members nationwide. CHAMPS currently offers more than 55 custom group purchasing contracts, including suppliers such as Gulf South; Alfred Nickles; Sherwin-Williams, and more.
