CHAMPS Oncology Focuses on System-Wide Standardization at IUH Cancer Centers Leadership Summit

CHAMPS Oncology proudly accepted an invitation to present at the Indiana University Health (IUH) Cancer Centers Leadership Summit on April 17, 2015. During the presentation CHAMPS Oncology’s Vice President and Commission on Cancer-trained Consultant Toni Hare, RHIT, CTR, provided an overview of the cancer registry by explaining the purpose of a registry, the benefits of a standardized data set and the role of a cancer registrar.

"We were honored to present a cancer registry update during the IUH Cancer Centers Leadership Summit,” said Toni Hare. “This allowed us to stress the benefits, importance and obstacles of a standardized cancer registry data set within a system like IUH.”

Standardized cancer registry data allows systems, like IUH, to:

  • Improve the validity and usability of the registry data.
  • Allow aggregation, comparisons and benchmarking.
  • Tell the system story from a business and strategic planning perspective.
  • Support system-wide cancer care initiatives.
  • Ensure quality data is available to improve patient care and program efficiency.
  • Provide registry staff with consistent training and education.
  • Ensure cancer care leadership have actionable information.
  • Ensure standardized system-level cancer benchmarking, dashboards and scorecards.

In addition to Hare’s presentation, Amber Gregg, MSHCPM, director of analytics and innovation for CHAMPS Oncology, provided a live demonstration of insight2oncology™, CHAMPS Oncology’s new web-based system that transforms cancer data into actionable information for strategic planning, operational and financial decisions.
