Help Us Restart Ohio Responsibly

The information below is from May 2020. For the latest information on Responsible Restart Ohio and current measures underway at Northeast Ohio hospitals, visit the Responsible Restart Ohio page below or check out the sidebar to the left to find the latest COVID-19 operations updates from The Center's member hospitals.

On May 1, Northeast Ohio hospitals moved forward with plans to reopen their facilities for healthcare procedures that do not require an overnight hospital stay, in compliance with guidance from Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health. Hospitals in Northeast Ohio are working closely with the governor’s office to monitor the evolving situation regarding COVID-19.

The safety of patients and those who give them care is a top priority for hospitals as services resume. After weeks of planning prior to resuming non-essential procedures, hospitals have implemented processes and protocols, including enhanced cleaning techniques, to minimize the risks from the virus. Infection control has always been a central part of what hospitals do and that is no different today.

Even with statewide and local stay-at-home orders and advisories, your need for healthcare has not gone away. Avoiding care during medical emergencies, or even routine screenings and vaccinations, can lead to secondary health crises. It is important that you tend to your health and talk to your doctor about getting the care you need on a regular basis. With the enhanced safety measures taken by Northeast Ohio hospitals, you can rest assured that your caregivers are prepared to give you the quality care you know them for.

As you head back for care, you will notice changes aimed at protecting you and your caregivers. These may include increased use of telehealth, limiting visitor access, requiring the use of masks, and monitoring and testing for COVID-19. Different hospitals have different policies, so please check with your healthcare facility before attempting to receive care on-site.
