Jobs of the Future: Building the Talent Pipeline in Behavioral Healthcare
Jobs of the Future: Building the Talent Pipeline in Behavioral Healthcare
It's no secret that healthcare providers are experiencing the challenges of attracting and retaining staff. Nearly every respondent (98%) in a recent survey by the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health and Family Services Providers reported difficulties in recruiting staff, and nearly as many cited significant challenges in keeping employees.
In 2020, Mental Health America showed Ohio as particularly understaffed, with only one behavioral healthcare worker for every 560 individuals. And demand has only grown since then, especially for youth support. There has never been a more urgent need to identify and close gaps in the talent pipeline for social workers, therapists, substance abuse counselors, and more. What will it take to strengthen the behavioral healthcare workforce?
Join the City Club for a conversation on how we can leverage this moment to both respond to immediate needs, and create the behavioral healthcare jobs needed for the future. Register here.
