Learning Community for Rural Jurisdictions

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) leadership, in collaboration with the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program(COSSAP)—which is transitioning in the coming months to the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP)—team at the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR), invite you to this no-cost Learning Community for Rural Jurisdictions occurring the second Tuesday of each month beginning February 14 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET.

This month’s Rural Learning Community opportunity, March 14 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. ET, will focus on Cross-Systems Partnerships to address SUD in Rural Communities and will include information about rural-specific support and resources as well as highlight work being done in Grays Harbor, Washington, and Reno County, Kansas.

This eight-part series will feature each COSSAP TTA provider and rural community partners/ COSSAP grantees to demonstrate how COSSAP TTA providers can support rural jurisdictions and the innovative work made possible by rural partnerships. The COSSAP TTA program offers a variety of learning opportunities and assistance to support BJA COSSAP grantees and other local, tribal, and state stakeholders to build and sustain multidisciplinary criminal justice responses to illicit substance use and misuse.

Each Learning Community session will feature multiple rural jurisdictions to discuss their current projects and highlight lessons learned along the way, including how each community is addressing stigma within their work. The Learning Community will allocate time for open questions and discussion in order to foster learning and relationship building across rural jurisdictions.

The Learning Community for Rural Jurisdictions is free and open to any rural community partners that are interested in addressing substance use. Please register at Learning Community for Rural Jurisdictions Registration to receive calendar invites.
