Camille Zalar, MHA, BSN, RN, CARN, is the director of education and initiatives for the Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium. In her role, she is responsible for overseeing the Opioid Consortium’s education programming, including the initiatives related to nurse and frontline staff education. Zalar will also lend support as needed in carrying out additional objectives in the Opioid Consortium strategic plan.

Zalar’s work will include assembling the education curriculum, identifying methods for delivering education to staff, and creating the evaluation tools including outcome measures, survey, and content evaluation.

Zalar brings with her a background in nursing, addiction treatment and education. She most recently held the position of director of nursing at Glenbeigh Hospital and had been with the Ashtabula County Medical Center Healthcare System for 18 years. Prior to her most recent role, Zalar held positions in quality, inclusive of patient experience and education, as well as infection control. She is licensed by the State of Ohio as a registered nurse.

She earned her Master of Health Administration from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University. She is a certified addictions registered nurse (CARN) and a certified infection control and epidemiology (CIC) practitioner. She is a member of the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA), American Nurses Association (ANA) and The International Nurses Society on Addiction (IntNSA).

Two of her proudest accomplishments include being awarded the Cleveland Clinic Nurse Alliance Award for supporting frontline nurses to deliver patient care and the Ashtabula County Medical Center President Gold Award for improving laboratory workflow to deliver accurate testing results and quicker turnaround impacting timely treatment.
