The Center for Health Affairs has recently finalized a new collaboration with the Ohio Hospital Association and the other regional hospitals around the state aimed at expanding The Center’s DATABANK initiative. After several months of discussion, the group of associations has come to an agreement allowing the expansion to begin in 2011.
DATABANK is an online hospital utilization and financial performance indicators tool that allows for comparison of a wide variety of indicators such as average length of stay, charges and expenses per day, uncollected charges, profitability and personnel statistics. The data are submitted monthly and can be compared to preset, customized comparison groups in the state as well as across the nation. As a result, DATABANK offers the most up-to-date financial and volume indicators comparison data available on the market today.
In the new arrangement, while the Ohio Hospital Association will now hold the license for the product, The Center's member hospitals will still enjoy the same service and functionality that they have in the past. In fact, with more hospitals across the state participating, The Center's membership will have a greater number of hospitals with which to compare themselves and a richer variety of peer groups.
