Back to all News ReleasesNovember 23, 2011 (Cleveland)Are You Using DATABANK? Don’t Miss Out!
DATABANK recruiting efforts are underway at The Center for Health Affairs. Though many hospitals in The Center’s membership have participated in DATABANK at no charge as a benefit of membership, restructuring of the program early this year led to a renewed recruitment effort. In early 2011 The Center for Health Affairs and the Ohio Hospital Association, along with the other regional allied associations, entered into an agreement to offer the online utilization and financial performance indicators tool to all hospitals in the state. The statewide expansion of the tool will enhance its value to participating hospitals, providing them with a more robust dataset and broadening the selection of hospitals that can be used in building customized peer groups for benchmarking.
Early in November DATABANK information packets were mailed to the chief executive and chief financial officers of hospitals that are members of The Center but are not currently participating in DATABANK. Included with this information was a contract and contact information request form. To participate, hospitals must simply return these two forms to The Center for Health Affairs. To date, hospitals that are participating, or that have signed contracts and are planning to participate, include Euclid, Fairview, Hillcrest, Lakewood, Lutheran, Marymount, Medina, South Pointe, St. Vincent, Lake Health West, Tripoint Medical Center, UH Ahuja, UH Bedford, UH Case, UH Conneaut, UH Geauga, UH Geneva, and UH Richmond Heights. Hospitals that are part of other metro associations are also beginning to sign on as well.
DATABANK is an online benchmarking tool that allows for comparison of a wide variety of indicators such as average length of stay, charges and expenses per day, uncollected charges and personnel statistics. The data is submitted monthly and can be compared to preset, customized comparison groups in the state and across the nation. If you are from a participating hospital and would like additional information on how to use the tool, or if you have other questions, please contact Deanna Moore at deanna.moore@chanet.org or 216.255.3614.
