Last week The Center for Health Affairs, the leading advocate for Northeast Ohio hospitals, officially launched a Facebook presence for its workforce initiative, NEONI.
The NEONI Facebook page aims to enhance awareness of its involvement in the regional healthcare workforce community by opening communication and encouraging conversation among its key stakeholders, which include 200 NEONI members, as well as nursing faculty, nurses and student nurses, allied health professionals and future healthcare professionals, and more. The page will include information on important topics of interest to these groups, including:
- Events, news and membership information – Find updates on NEONI’s annual conferences and social events, awards for nursing excellence and leadership, photos from past events, details on becoming a member, and general news about the regional workforce.
- NEONI’s Career Shadowing program for high school students – Find details on how to apply for an opportunity to shadow a healthcare professional in one of 21 hospitals in six Northeast Ohio counties.
- StudentMAX™, NEONI’s clinical placement web-based tool – Learn more about the exclusive license NEONI has used to place more than 37,000 students from 29 nursing education programs in 28 hospitals since its Ohio debut in 2006.
- Nursing supply and demand through NEONI’s Forecasting Model – Read the latest news on the development of a nursing workforce predictive supply and demand model for licensed practical nurses and registered nurses covering 17 counties in Ohio.
- Industry news and hot topics – Find links to interesting articles and events, ask questions and engage in discussions on topics of interest.
“As technology evolves, it’s clear more and more people find it convenient to read their news and engage with others online,” said Lisa Anderson, vice president of member services for The Center for Health Affairs. “We want to stay connected with these folks and make it easy for them to find out what NEONI is up to. Facebook allows us to do that very easily. We are excited to use our page to engage others in a conversation about the Northeast Ohio healthcare workforce.”
NEONI’s Facebook presence is part of an ongoing effort to become more engaged with interested parties through digital media. It follows the launch of a new website for NEONI and The Center for Health Affairs in May 2011. The websites contain more in-depth information on NEONI’s projects as well as the work of The Center for Health Affairs.
Since 2000, NEONI has worked to empower, strengthen and grow the Northeast Ohio healthcare workforce. Membership includes more than 200 professional nursing leaders, representing 74 organizations in 12 Northeast Ohio counties.
