Back to all News ReleasesOctober 24, 2011 (Cleveland)New Healthcare Shadowing Site Provides New Tools, Features & Reports for Users
The Center for Health Affairs workforce initiative, NEONI, has recently launched its new Healthcare Career Shadowing users’ website, allowing students, schools and hospitals easier navigation and access to a variety of new tools, features and reports. More than 300 high school guidance counselors in a 15-county region were notified about the new site and already, more than 250 students from 14 different high schools so far are scheduled for a shadowing experience for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The new shadowing users’ site allows:
- Students the ability to select four date and hospital shadowing scheduling combinations that work best with their schedule. Previously, students could only select their preferred location. Students also now have an identification number that helps streamline the annual application process.
- Hospitals the ability to log in and see in which specific area of nursing each student prefers to complete their shadowing experience, so each hospital can best meet students’ needs.
- High school guidance counselors the ability to log in and view when and where each student is scheduled for their shadowing experience.
NEONI’s Healthcare Career Shadowing Year-End Summary Reports for the 2010-2011 academic year were also recently distributed to participating hospitals. These reports show participating hospitals and schools the impact NEONI’s Healthcare Career Shadowing Program has on students and the healthcare community by providing data by county, high school and hospital.
