Back to all News ReleasesOctober 25, 2011 (Cleveland)Data Collection for New Volume Statistics Indicators Underway
Northeast Ohio hospital data coordinators are busy gathering the necessary information to begin reporting on new indicators that are a part of The Center for Health Affairs Volume Statistics upgrade. After months of meetings with senior executives from the region’s hospitals and discussions with the Volume Statistics Advisory Committee on how to enhance the program, reporting on the new data elements is slated to begin at the end of October. Coordinators will report on data beginning with July 2011 information in order to create a data set for 2011 comprised of two full quarters.
The new indicators include recommended discharge location, outpatient heart cases and off-campus emergency department cases. In addition, The Center is working with members on an acceptable means of reporting all-cause readmissions on a quarterly basis. The new indicators should be included in the report scheduled for release in November, which will reflect September data.
