NEONI 2012 - 2013 Career Shadowing Program Off to a Strong Start

Students Shadow Healthcare ProfessionalsSince its kickoff on Oct. 9, the NEONI 2012 – 2013 Healthcare Career Shadowing Program has assigned 500 students to shadowing experiences in 17 different hospitals ― a number that has already exceeded the 474 students participating in last year’s program. The program, open to high school juniors and seniors, offers students the opportunity to spend a day interacting with professional healthcare practitioners in nursing, radiology, and a variety of other healthcare occupations at several Northeast Ohio hospitals. Since the program began in 2006, more than 5,000 students, from over 150 high schools have shadowed healthcare professionals in more than 30 local hospitals.

“Our Shadowing Program is beneficial and strongly encouraged for students who are considering a career in healthcare,” said Sue Zagula, NEONI’s new director of placement services. “They have the opportunity to learn first-hand about careers and job skills by actually taking part in a real-life workplace experience.”

There is still time for interested schools and hospitals to sign up to participate in the NEONI 2012 - 2013 Healthcare Career Shadowing Program. For more information, please contact Sue Zagula at 216.255.3664 or sue.zagula@chanet.org

This year’s program will run through May 2013. For additional information, check out NEONI’s Healthcare Career Shadowing Program or  NEONI’s Facebook page.
