Initially launched in July 2011 to Northeast Ohio hospitals, NEONI’s Nursing Workforce Forecast Model is on the verge of significant growth. Following a presentation by
Lisa Anderson, vice president of member services, and consulting partner Pat Cirillo, president of Cypress Research at a national nursing conference, several regions have expressed interest in developing regional models of their own. Among those expressing interest are Dayton, Louisiana, and Maine, as well as a large multi-state hospital system.
NEONI’s Nursing Workforce Forecast Model, which allows healthcare professionals to predict future nursing workforce needs, was developed by The Center in collaboration with Pat Cirillo of Cypress Research Group and Craig Moore, an economist with expertise in forecasting methods. In light of the growing interest in expanding the model to other regions, this team has formed a business partnership to market the model nationally. Anderson notes that this new business venture “helps us promote The Center’s work nationally and provides a funding stream to offset operating costs for NEONI and…helps support new projects we want to pursue through NEONI.”
