Crain's Features Data on Emergency Department Admission Rates, Regional Cases

Emergency Department Admission RatesThe Dec. 2-8, 2013 print edition of Crain's Cleveland Business features data from The Center's most recent issue brief, which discusses growing emergency department visits and utilization. Crain's specifically highlights The Center's data on emergency department admission rates and overall cases in the region.

"Emergency department cases in the region have risen steadily in the past decade, reaching just over 1.07 million in 2012, a 14% rise since 2001, according to data compiled by The Center for Health Affairs. However, The Center notes that the number of people admitted to the hospital from the emergency department rose in the early 2000s but has steadied in recent years," wrote Crain's along with a table illustrating emergency department cases in Northeast Ohio from 2001-2012.

The accompanying illustration of emergency department admission rates and overall cases in the region was reprinted with permission from Crain’s Cleveland Business.
