Employees at The Center for Health Affairs Achieve 110 Service Days

Employees at The Center for Health Affairs Achieve 110 Service Days The Center for Health Affairs and its business affiliate, CHAMPS Healthcare, are happy to announce the completion of their 100 Days of Service initiative, during which the organization achieved a total of 110 service days. The initiative, launched in April, encouraged each of the organization’s 128 staff members to participate in at least one day of community service in honor of The Center’s upcoming centennial, with a goal of achieving at least 100 total days of service as an organization. The service days were considered a means of giving back and saying thank you to the communities, which have supported the endeavors of The Center and CHAMPS for so long.

The Center and CHAMPS coordinated several corporate-sponsored volunteer opportunities in conjunction with community organizations or initiatives, including the Cleveland Habitat for Humanity Restore, Green Corps Community Garden and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

Most recently, employees volunteered their time to cook meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, a local chapter of a national organization that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families whose children are receiving medical treatment. “When you volunteer, it’s rewarding to know that you can make an impact on the lives of others,” said Mike Williams, IT computer associate, who volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland. “It’s even more rewarding when you can make an impact on your very own community.”

In addition to corporate-sponsored volunteer opportunities, employees were also encouraged to volunteer at organizations of their choice. “Allowing us to volunteer at our choice organization, gave us the opportunity to help causes that were important to us,” said Lesa Weisfeld, general accountant, who volunteered at Cleveland’s Trinity Cathedral for their Sunday Lunch Program. “This made achieving our 100 service days well worth it.”

Employees volunteered at dozens of organizations both in Northeast Ohio and in the many communities across the country where The Center’s remote employees live. Some of those organizations are highlighted below:

  • American Heart Association’s 2015 Heart Walk
  • Chaplain Partnership
  • Christian Chester Church
  • Cleveland Rape Crisis Center
  • General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)
  • Hope Over Heroin
  • Horace Mann Elementary School
  • Lakewood Hospital Foundation
  • Norwalk Alliance Church
  • Salvation Army
  • St. Louis Pulmonary Hypertension Association
  • YMCA of Greater Cleveland
