Northeast Ohio Ebola Efforts Featured in AMCNO Piece

Lay Navigation Event

Northeast Ohio Ebola efforts were recently featured in The Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio’s (AMCNO) Northern Ohio Physician January/February 2015 issue.

The Center for Health Affairs’ Beth Gatlin, RN, MA-HSM, ASPR project director, submitted the piece, “Ebola: Northeast Ohio Efforts,” which provides details of the various Northeast Ohio Ebola efforts performed late last year.

The piece begins by recapping the Oct. 13 event when an Ebola patient traveled on a Frontier flight from Cleveland to Dallas causing a “frenzy” for public health officials and hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio.

“Getting accurate information regarding the date of travel, where and whom the contact visited as well as shouldering the deluge of media inquiries was a major priority,” Gatlin wrote.

The article covers the challenges faced during this acute phase of the Ebola response as well as the continuous efforts being made to ensure Northeast Ohio is prepared should a situation like this arise again.
