The Center Invited to Join National Collaborative on Substance Use

The treatment and prevention of substance use and misuse issues continues to be a top health need identified by many member hospitals’ community health needs assessments. Recognizing that substance abuse is a top health need in Northeast Ohio, Julie Trocchio, senior director of community benefit and continuing care, Catholic Health Association of the United States, invited The Center for Health Affairs to participate in a national conversation about preventing substance abuse and early intervention, led by the National Collaborative on Education and Health.

The Center’s Kirstin Craciun, director of community outreach, participated in the first meeting of the National Collaborative on Education and Health’s Substance Use Working Group in Washington, D.C. on May 7. Tasked with identifying evidence-based best practices and emerging models related to the primary prevention of substance abuse and early intervention in the school setting, this working group will conclude their work within nine months.
