The Center for Health Affairs’ Commitment to Healthcare Grantmaking
Throughout its history The Center for Health Affairs and its related corporate entities have made a commitment to support the community through a variety of healthcare grantmaking opportunities when funds became available. A substantial donation in 2013 from CHAMPS Healthcare, The Center’s for-profit business affiliate, allowed The Center to make several significant contributions to community organizations while also taking steps to establish a separate 501 (c)(3) foundation known as the HealthComp Foundation.
Healthcare Grantmaking through Community Contributions
Over the last several years, The Center for Health Affairs has made a number of contributions to support community programs and initiatives that are in line with its mission, including:
HealthComp Foundation
HealthComp Foundation is a separate 501 (c)(3) foundation established for the purpose of healthcare grantmaking to support projects aimed at improving access and quality and eliminating disparities in Northeast Ohio. Though projects may take a variety of forms, data from The Center's community health needs assessment services for member hospitals will provide guidance to the foundation on where its dollar will likely make the most significant impact.
The new foundation, awarded its 501 (c)(3) status in 2016, is currently working with its board to formalize a mission and vision, as well to develop the parameters it will use for making awards.
