Anderson Comments on the Current Nursing Shortage in Northeast Ohio

On Wednesday, March 23, The Center for Health Affairs’ Senior Vice President of Member Services Lisa Anderson was interviewed by WEWS-TV, a local ABC affiliate, in a piece discussing the current nursing shortage in Northeast Ohio.

In the piece, “Nursing Shortage Hits Northeast Ohio,” Anderson provided an explanation for the current nursing shortage.

“The number one reason is because of the aging population here in Northeast Ohio, as people age, the demand for healthcare continues to grow exponentially,” said Anderson. 

According to the NEONI Nursing Forecaster, there is a current nursing shortage of about 750 nurses. By 2020, a nursing shortage of 3,500 nurses is predicted. More details on this can be found in the full Northeast Ohio Nursing Forecaster, which will be available soon.
