Brandi Robinson of ODH Answers Questions on Health Assessment Alignment

Brandi Robinson of ODH Answers Questions on Health Assessment AlignmentBrandi Robinson, deputy director in the Office of Health Policy and Performance Improvement at the Ohio Department of Health, presented information to the CHNA Roundtable and answered questions from participants regarding how hospitals and public health departments can operationalize the alignment of health assessments. State-level population health planning work resulted in a requirement for hospitals and public health departments to more closely align their work on health assessments and health improvement/implementation plans by 2020. To help ensure clarity regarding health assessment and plan alignment details, Brandi Robinson confirmed that the Ohio Department of Health will be publishing a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section on their website.

The August 23 meeting of the CHNA Roundtable included representatives from the majority of Northeast Ohio hospitals/systems; public health commissioners or accreditation coordinators from Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties; Merle Gordon, health director for the City of Cleveland; and other key stakeholders invested in community health improvement. Brandi Robinson - along with many CHNA Roundtable participants - were integral to the population health planning work completed at the state-level which is driving a shift in how health assessments at the local level are conducted.

In addition to a robust discussion about aligning health assessments and plans, Kirstin Craciun, director of community outreach, presented an update on the rollout of SNAP-Ed’s social marketing campaign and how hospitals can partner to boost impact in Northeast Ohio, the results of a CHNA Roundtable survey, recent speaking engagements and upcoming events. Deanna Moore, vice president of corporate communications, highlighted the recent hiring of executive director Allysyn Leppla who will lead the Northeast Ohio Hospital Consortium on Opioid Addiction.
