Several times a year, the executives from regional and metropolitan associations from across the country come together to learn from one another about how to best serve their members. On Thursday, Nov. 30, The Center for Health Affairs’ president and CEO Tim Jarm gave a presentation on the Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium for this group at the Conference of Metropolitan and Regional Hospital Associations in Florida. The presentation on the Opioid Consortium provided an opportunity for other associations to learn about the collaborative approach hospitals and The Center are taking to address the opioid epidemic in Northeast Ohio. Highlights included:
- A brief history of the opioid epidemic and why the Opioid Consortium was created.
- The program’s goals and how success will be measured.
- Highlights on the health systems involved.
“This presentation on the Opioid Consortium was the first time The Center has presented at this conference in 14 years,” said Jarm. “The concept was very well received and I have high hopes that The Center’s program will serve as a model to other communities dealing with this terrible epidemic.”
