Organizational Strategic Plan Development is Underway

Tim Jarm, President & CEO, The Center for Health Affairs / CHAMPS Healthcare2017 marked not only a new era of leadership at The Center for Health Affairs but also an opportunity to closely examine the direction of the organization as a whole. Upon taking the reins as The Center’s new president and CEO, Tim Jarm listed developing a new organizational strategic plan among his top priorities.

“Of course we’re still looking to provide high-value services to our members and clients during this period of development,” he explained, “but what we want to do moving forward is to inspire our team, engage our members and promote entrepreneurship. We know together these things will impact our community.”

In 2016 initial steps were taken to gather information from The Center's Northeast Ohio hospital members that would inform the strategic planning process. First, telephone interviews with a group of member hospital executives were conducted by Mainstream Enterprises’ Amy Morgenstern, an independent third-party consultant who gathered information about the current hospital market, the effectiveness of The Center and how the association could best meet the needs of member hospitals. Second, The Center’s internal strategic planning steering committee developed and executed a member engagement survey to assess the members’ level of satisfaction with association programming.

The information gathered from these initiatives has served to inform the internal steering committee and The Center for Health Affairs' board of directors as they move onto the next steps of developing the organizational strategic plan. Additional planning so far in 2017 has included:

  • Engaging Certified Strategic Planning Facilitator Jeanne Coughlin of the Coughlin Group to assist in developing the organizational strategic plan.
  • Holding two board retreats to gain insight and direction from:
  • Conducting an internal SWOT analysis with leaders of The Center’s programs.
  • Conducting an internal SWOT analysis with leaders of the organization.
The strategic plan, which will be unveiled in October, will encompass the entire organization, rather than just the association as has been done in the past. For more information contact Deanna Moore, vice president, corporate communications at 216.255.3614 or via email.
