CGS Visits Reimbursement Forum Members

On Thursday, June 21, The Center’s Reimbursement Forum members met with representatives from CGS Administrators, LLC (CGS) to discuss Medicare audit and reimbursement issues. CGS, which assists in hospitals’ claims processing and payment, works regularly with The Center's Northeast Ohio hospital members to address reimbursement questions and concerns pertaining to the Medicare program. Two staff members from CGS, Judith Cummings, accounting manager, and JoEllen Draper, audit manager, delivered a presentation and answered questions for Reimbursement Forum members. 

The presentation covered many Medicare topics hospitals regularly deal with, including:

• Reopening of Cost Reports
• Cost Report appeals process
• Cost Report auditing
• Hospital wage index
• Bad debt claims and review
• Changes in CMS rules

Following the presentation, CGS representatives addressed a number of pre-submitted questions from Reimbursement Forum members. Representatives from University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, Lake Health, Southwest General, MetroHealth and St. Vincent’s Charity Medical Center all participated in the meeting. Additionally, guests from OSU Wexner Medical Center and Western Reserve Hospital joined member hospitals.
