The Center Releases 2017 – 2020 Strategic Direction

The Center Releases 2017 – 2020 Strategic Direction The Center for Health Affairs has formally launched its 2017-2020 strategic direction, which was approved by The Center for Health Affairs' board on Sept. 21 and unveiled at The Center’s 2017 annual meeting on Oct. 10. Developing the strategic direction, which encompasses the entirety of the organization, including the association and its business affiliate, was among new President and CEO Timothy L. Jarm’s top priorities when he assumed leadership at The Center.

Highlights of the 2017 – 2020 strategic direction include:

  • New mission, vision and values
  • Critical success factors, which are measureable and specific
  • Action plans, including timelines and the leader charged with achieving the goals established in the plan

Tim Jarm has been intentional in referring to the document as a “strategic direction,” rather than a “strategic plan.”

“I’m smart enough to know there are things I don’t know,” explained Jarm. “The healthcare environment is very uncertain right now and I want to leave room for us to adjust to the emerging needs of our members and customers. That’s why it’s a direction and not a plan.”

The 2017 – 2020 strategic direction is built on a formula that employs four key elements:

“This formula outlines the strategies we will use to achieve our vision of becoming the best metropolitan hospital association in the country, helping to transform healthcare delivery in Northeast Ohio and the nation,” stated Jarm.
