On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium held its first joint meeting of 2018 at The Center for Health Affairs. Representatives from The Center, as well as Opioid Consortium members including Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, Northeast Ohio VA Healthcare System, St. Vincent’s Charity Medical Center, University Hospitals, and the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio were on-site to discuss collaborative efforts to address the ongoing Northeast Ohio opioid epidemic.
This meeting of the Opioid Consortium members fostered action around:
- Sharing data-driven practices and programming occurring within Opioid Consortium hospitals.
- Accelerated movement toward an Opioid Consortium-branded hospital-system educational plan.
- Revising the strategic action plan to include measurable outcomes.
- Engaging the government relations representatives around policy and advocacy.
- Providing status updates regarding two grant proposal submissions.
Moving forward, Opioid Consortium members will convene in-person on a quarterly basis and monthly via conference call or WebEx to:
- Implement the Opioid Consortium strategic plan, monitor progress and outcomes, and identify any areas of concern.
- Utilize data and analytics to monitor progress.
- Share progress of implemented opioid-related programming among the hospital members.
- Review and discuss new opportunities to impact the opioid epidemic.
Opioid Consortium members will meet again on Thursday, March 8, via conference call. The next in-person convening is set for Thursday, May 10. For additional information, contact us.
