2018 Board Members Appointed to Boards of The Center and its Affiliates



2018 Board Members Appointed to Boards of The Center and its AffiliatesChanges have been announced to The Center for Health Affairs' board, as well as to the CHAMPS Healthcare boards and the GCHA board. The CHAMPS boards govern The Center's business affiliate and the GCHA board governs the organization's nonprofit corporate entity, which houses community activities including NEONI, The Center's workforce initiative. Changes to the 2018 board members include the addition of several new trustees to account for vacancies that occurred through natural attrition. The Center is pleased to welcome the following individuals to its boards and appreciates the contributions each will make to the organization.

New Trustees, The Center for Health Affairs:

  • Richard Cicero, sr. vice president, marketing and business development, Lake Health

New Trustees, CHAMPS Healthcare:

  • Henry “Champ” Burgess, vice president, specialty pharmacy, University Hospitals Home Care and Hospice Services

New Trustee, GCHA:

  • Christina Lundquist, MHA, vice president, operations, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital
  • Cheryl O’Malley, RN, MSN, CMS-RN, vice president, medical surgical services, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center

In addition to the new 2018 board members, several trustees have agreed to extend their board leadership positions or to take new ones in the coming year. The Center for Health Affairs and its affiliate organizations extend their gratitude for the leadership of the following individuals:

The Center for Health Affairs Board Leadership Updates

  • Heidi L. Gartland, vice president, government and community relations, University Hospitals, accepted an extended term as board chair for one year.

CHAMPS Healthcare Board Leadership Updates

  • Christopher McKenna, managing director, Carleton McKenna & Co., LLC, accepted a new position as board chair.
  • Scott Platz, director of finance, Taussig Cancer and Glickman Urological Institutes, Cleveland Clinic, accepted a new position as board treasurer.

GCHA Board Leadership Updates

  • Albert Matyas, vice president, ambulatory operations and business development, Southwest General Health Center, accepted a new position as board treasurer.
