Camille Zalar Joins Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium

The Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium welcomes Camille Zalar, MHA, BSN, RN, CARN, as its new director of education and initiatives beginning July 23. In this role, Zalar will be responsible for overseeing the Consortium’s education programming, including the initiatives related to nurse and frontline staff education. Reporting to Lisa Anderson, MSN, RN, senior vice president, Member Services, The Center for Health Affairs, who oversees the work of the Opioid Consortium, Zalar will also lend support as needed in carrying out additional objectives in the Opioid Consortium strategic plan.

Zalar brings with her a background in nursing, addiction treatment, and education. She most recently held the position of director of nursing at Glenbeigh Hospital and had been with the Ashtabula County Medical Center Healthcare System for 18 years. Prior to her most recent role, Zalar held positions in quality, inclusive of patient experience and education, as well as infection control. She is a certified registered nurse in addictions and in infection control and epidemiology.

As she settles into her new role, Zalar will gradually take the lead on the Opioid Consortium’s nursing and frontline staff education program. To date, progress is already being made. Outlines have been created for each area, and existing quality resources, as well as curricula gaps, have been identified. This process will continue as the curriculum is carefully refined and prepared for delivery.

Zalar’s work will include assembling the education curriculum, identifying methods for delivering education to staff, and creating the evaluation tools including outcome measures, survey, and content evaluation. At its most recent meeting, the Education Subcommittee discussed preliminary plans for rolling out the education program upon completion, beginning with a pilot before a wider release.
