Back to all News ReleasesMay 16, 2018 (Cleveland)Capitol Hill Visits Highlight The Center’s Advocacy Agenda
Last week, Tony Gutowski, director of government affairs, The Center for Health Affairs, visited members of the Ohio congressional delegation to discuss The Center’s advocacy agenda. At the top of the agenda was the nation’s opioid crisis, which continues to be the focus of federal lawmakers and that of the Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium. While visiting with congressional offices, Gutowski provided the policy priorities of the Consortium to congressional offices and heard from health policy staffers on the various legislative proposals currently pending in Congress.
With a number of new initiatives underway, the Opioid Consortium’s advocacy agenda was recently drafted by members of the policy subcommittee in preparation for the Capitol Hill visits. As debate continues on congressional proposals through Memorial Day, the Consortium will continue its work with Ohio’s congressional delegation to ensure components of its advocacy agenda are considered by the appropriate committees of jurisdiction.
