To help inform the final selection of health priorities for the 2019 Cuyahoga County Community Health Needs Assessment, HIP-Cuyahoga held three community meetings on July 31 and August 6. Two meetings were held with community residents – one on the east side of Cleveland and one on the west side of Cleveland. One meeting was held with community stakeholders, which included representation from social service agencies, law enforcement, academia, local government, among others. Staff members from The Center for Health Affairs participated in the planning and execution of all three community meetings.
During the meetings, key data themes from the 2019 Cuyahoga County Community Health Needs Assessment were shared, participants voted on their top three health priorities from among a list of 16 health topics, and next steps in the process were discussed. The following health topics received the most combined votes at the community meetings:
- Poverty
- Mental Health / Suicide
- Structural Racism
Voting results from the community meetings were shared with the 2019 Cuyahoga County Community Health Needs Assessment Steering Committee and informed the final selection of health priorities that will be the focus of a three-year implementation/improvement plan.
