HealthComp Foundation Announces Latest Grant, 2019 Grant-Making Focus

HealthComp Foundation Announces Latest Grant, 2019 Grant-Making FocusThe HealthComp Foundation has announced its latest funding award along with the focus of its community-responsive grant-making for 2019.

A grant of $737,739 is being awarded over three years to create and sustain a collaborative community health assessment process for a nine-county region in Northeast Ohio, with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health serving as fiscal agent. The project seeks to create and sustain aligned approaches for hospitals and health departments to conduct and disseminate community health assessments. The objective of the initiative is more effective and efficient health improvement planning and better health outcomes for all residents. The project involves both:

1) Primary data collection to understand the needs of community members, especially the most vulnerable, and gaps in opportunity and resources, and

2) The establishment of a data infrastructure to make previously inaccessible health data readily available to all.

Also committing financial support in 2019 for this collaborative effort are the Cleveland Department of Public Health, Cuyahoga County Board of Health, The MetroHealth System, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Southwest General Health Center and University Hospitals.

2019 Community-Responsive Grant-Making Focus
The HealthComp Foundation also announced the focus of its community-responsive grant-making for 2019. The foundation seeks to support programs that improve the quality of life for individuals in poverty, especially by addressing social determinants of health. Programs aimed at reducing health disparities and advancing health equity will receive priority consideration. Applications will open Aug. 1 through the foundation’s online grant application system. Award decisions will be made in November.
