To help inform the 2019 Cuyahoga County Community Health Needs Assessment, a social service sector focus group was held on May 24, 2019. Led by a MetroHealth facilitator, this focus group brought together leaders whose organizations address issues such as: economic development, food and hunger, housing, rape and sexual abuse, aging and transportation.
Focus group participants shared their perspectives regarding:
- The biggest issues facing the people they serve
- Factors impacting health disparities
- The role public health departments and hospitals should play in addressing community health issues
The decision to conduct a social service sector focus group was prompted by a recommendation made by United Way of Greater Cleveland. In addition to ensuring the important voice of the social service sector is included in the 2019 Cuyahoga County Community Health Needs Assessment, this also helps to align the work of the Accountable Health Communities with the work to develop a collaborative 2019 Assessment.
Key social service sector focus group findings will be incorporated into the 2019 Cuyahoga County Community Health Needs Assessment and will inform the selection of health priorities that will be the focus of a 3-year implementation strategy.
