Back to all News ReleasesJune 29, 2021 (Cleveland, OH)HHS Revises PRF Reporting Requirements
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
announced in June an extension of the deadline by which hospitals and other providers that received COVID-19 Provider Relief Fund money after June 30, 2020, must use their payments. HHS also extended the amount of time providers will have to report information on the use of their PRF dollars.
Any funds received prior to June 30, 2020, were required to be used by June 30, 2021. However, there are three additional time periods for utilizing funds received after that, with corresponding reporting deadlines. HHS notes that recipients may use payments for eligible expenses or lost revenue incurred prior to receipt of funds so long as they were used to prevent, prepare for, or respond to COVID-19.
Beginning today, July 1, the Provider Relief Fund reporting portal will be open for providers to begin submitting information. Under the new schedule, fund recipients now have 90 days – rather than 30 – to complete their reporting. Recipients are required to report for each Payment Received Period in which they received one or more payments exceeding, in the aggregate, $10,000, rather than $10,000 cumulatively across all PRF payments.
The new reporting requirements are applicable to recipients of the skilled nursing facility and nursing home infection control distribution in addition to general and other targeted distributions.
