The Center for Health Affairs throughout the month of May joined the online efforts of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the American Hospital Association’s American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) to commemorate National Nurses Month and recognize the vital contributions nurses make to the health and well-being of our communities.
National Nurses Month was held concurrently with National Nurses Week (May 6 – 12) this year. The ANA divided the month into
four weekly content focuses – self-care, recognition, professional development and community engagement. The AONL called for photo submissions for its virtual nurse comic book that was streamed live on its social media and
National Nurses Week website.
Locally, The Center hosted a self-care gift set giveaway for nurses on Facebook and ran a social media recruitment campaign for the
Greater Cleveland Organization of Nursing Leadership (GCONL). Formed in 2004, GCONL is a center of excellence for clinical leadership that improves healthcare in Northeast Ohio through networking and other opportunities.
The Center was pleased to recognize the efforts of nurses and their essential role in the healthcare system, particularly after more than a year of dedication and service during the pandemic, an especially demanding time for these caregivers.
