Pain Management & Opioids Intro Course Now Available



The Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium recently launched its free new course for prescribing clinicians, Introduction to Pain Management and Opioids, aiming to improve prescribing practices with the help of its free courses.

The Introduction to Pain Management and Opioids course details patient pain types, pain syndromes and clinical conditions that cause pain. The materials also contrast approaches to pain management, look at the benefits of the multidimensional approach to pain and explains nonpharmacological and pharmacological methods for treatment.

Additional nurse module offerings are also available on the Opioid Consortium’s portal. These include:

  1. Introduction to Substance Use Disorders (1 CE; healthcare support staff option for CoC also available)
  2. Caring for Complex Medical Patients with Co-Occurring Disorders (1 CE)
  3. Nursing Interventions and Treatment Options (1 CE)
  4. Managing Difficult Behaviors Exhibited by Patients, Family Members and Visitors (1 CE)

The courses are all free and available from the comfort of home or the workplace. Continuing education credits are offered to Ohio participants.
