A Statement from The Center for Health Affairs on Recent Tragic Events

In a matter of days, our nation has experienced a pair of tragedies in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York, the latest in a series of events happening with devastating frequency in our country.

We at The Center for Health Affairs are deeply saddened and our hearts go out all who lost their lives in these senseless and horrific acts, and to their loved ones who are facing unimaginable pain.

The epidemics of racism and gun violence continue to rage across the U.S., impacting the lives of so many innocent people of all ages every day. The Center for Health Affairs denounces these acts and stands firmly in support of sensible measures to protect the health of every citizen. The time for action is long overdue. We cannot allow another day to go by without enacting a real solution to prevent another tragedy. And we must work together, as a community and as a country.

The driving force of The Center’s collaborative community health work is to achieve improved health outcomes for all – that means confronting gun violence, racism, and inequity. We at The Center for Health Affairs share in our nation’s collective grief and stand united with our member hospitals, public health partners, community partners and residents in the work to ensure that all individuals can achieve their highest health potential.
