On Aug. 20, in honor of its 100 year anniversary, The Center for Health Affairs released, "Centennial Viewpoints," a publication highlighting the organization, its history and where it stands today. The piece includes interviews from a variety of people who have been involved with the organization over the years including its current leadership, board chairs and C. Wayne Rice, former president and CEO of The Center. Comments from dozens of additional key stakeholders are also included.
Comments and interviews from "Centennial Viewpoints" focused on the impact of The Center and how it had managed to thrive for a century and included the following highlights:
Today, the role of the association is still around advocacy – particularly local advocacy − and speaking on behalf of members when they may not be able to speak out for themselves.
- Michael Szubski, CFO, University Hospitals
One of the draws to this community is the world-class healthcare in Northeast Ohio from all the hospitals. The association has had a strong background role in that.
- Bill Keckan, executive director, regional operations, Cleveland Clinic
The hospitals in Northeast Ohio have a willingness to work together – it’s not like that anywhere else. When you can bring everyone together, you have a force you cannot ignore. It makes Cleveland a very special place…
- C. Wayne Rice, former president and CEO, The Center for Health Affairs
