The Center for Health Affairs Partners with AsterionDB to Offer Members a More Resilient & Secure Healthcare Network Enterprise

The Center for Health Affairs, the leading advocate for Northeast Ohio hospitals, today announced a strategic partnership with AsterionDB, an innovative company that provides a zero-trust secure storage and converged computing platform application built upon the industry-leading Oracle Database. The Center is partnering with AsterionDB through The Essentials Group, a business line designed to create greater value for the collective member and client base of The Center for Health Affairs and CHAMPS Group Purchasing by serving as an incubator for new concepts and forging relationships that bring forward solutions to improve operational efficiency, productivity and outcomes.

This strategic partnership enhances The Center’s efforts to provide digital transformation and IT modernization efforts for its members and clients, creating a more secure data storage, processing and security environment that will thwart future cyberattacks.  AsterionDB’s security-first, zero-trust approach is built into its architecture, enabling granular access to data and ensuring all operations are brokered by audited, secure business logic. This approach precludes the ability to search for all files and directly access data.

AsterionDB’s unique application merges structured data, unstructured data and all business logic at the data layer. Unstructured data, such as documents, DICOM objects and digital media assets, are migrated to the database and removed from the file system.

“AsterionDB is excited to be a strategic partner with The Center, CHAMPS and its members,” said Steve Guilford, president of AsterionDB. “Healthcare organizations face a dramatic rise in sophisticated cyberattacks. Protection of patient data is paramount and critical for operational integrity.”

Of particular interest, Oracle recently announced the desupport of DICOM images in the database. AsterionDB’s extensible capabilities provide the exact features recommended by Oracle to restore support for DICOM images in the database. AsterionDB delivers a cost-effective pathway to migrate DICOM images to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
